Versatile Expert Mouse

5/5

James from Logan writes:
Strengths:
-5400 DPI and fast poll rate. -Optimal for all three techniques (palm, claw, fingertip) -Fully macroable. -On board memory for profiles. -Sturdy cord.
Weaknesses:
None for this price point. Top quality mouse for any game type.
Summary:
Top quality mouse for any game type. There's a reason razer is rebadging this mouse as the BF3 mouse (with a 6400 dpi laser).

Imperator 4G

4/5

Rei from Edmonton writes:
Strengths:
- Smooth and fast tracking (I find this even better in COD:MW and MW2 than the Logitech G500).
- Feels frictionless on smooth mousepads (i.e., SteelSeries SX) compared to other Mice.
- Ergonomic shape (is known to have been modelled after the Logitech MX518 or G5 shape).
- Easy to control.
Weaknesses:
-It's a medium sized mouse, I find it smaller than the Logitech G5/G500 that I got used to for years, but it's easy to get to get used to.
-Rubberized sidings can be slippery and hard to grip when new (just give it time to finally feel grippy by continuous usage).
-Cursor freezes frequently with Surface Calibration (SC) "on" while at 1000 Reports per second polling rate. You either need to turn off SC if you want to use 1000rps, or settle with 500rps with SC on. Even with SC off, it's great!
Summary:
I personally have been searching for something better than my old trusty G5 and recently sold G500 mouse that would be near its shape - I tried so many mice out there (DeathAdder, Lachesis, CM Spawn, G9, G700, etc.) and I can say I finally found it with the Imperator 4G. Hopefully Razer will find a fix for the cursor freezing with a firmware update, and this will be perfect.

Almost all good

Strengths:
This mouse has NO PROBLEM on X64 OS's. Not sure why other people are having issues. I replaced an old logitech mouse with this in windows 64 with no problems at all. I hold a mouse in my finger tips and always rest my wrist on the mouse pad. This is one of the few that are comfortable with a finger tip hold. Works very good in games as well. Don't need to move the mouse more than an inch in any game. Much easier to control.
Weaknesses:
This mouse has one weakness. Inside, there's small plastic 'posts' that push down on the actual switches for the buttons. These are fairly weak. All of a sudden the left mouse button needed more pressure than normal to activate. I opened the mouse and found half of the plastic 'post' had broken off. The remaining plastic was flexing as I'd push the mouse button. Half an hour and some epoxy later, and it's as good, or better than new. Was kind of disapointed in the weak plastic used.
Summary:
Very good mouse, comfortable, accurate.

Price about what you would expect.

I would purchase IPR incase there's trouble with the mouse buttons failing as I experienced.

Pretty good

Strengths:
Got what I asked for, nice ergonomic design and haven't had a single problem running it on a win7 64bit OS. Light weight, and glides seamlessly across most surfaces.
Weaknesses:
The braided cord sometimes get tangled pretty quickly depending on how much you move it from one location to another. First time I opened it, it seems like it was used a bit cause i noticed streak marks on the plastic gliders of the mouse, its not a big deal though.
Summary:
Overall, great mouse for gaming, haven't had any issues yet

On X64 System, freezes every 2-5 seconds, couldn't even move. Updated firmware, still not working.
Summary:
Not recommended on X64

Logitech ergonomics and Razer, a winning combination

5/5

Strengths:
The Razer imperator is the first Razer mouse to adopt the perfect ergonomic design of the logitech MX and G series, and it was immediately evident as the mouse fit perfectly into the pit of my hand. The instant DPI adjustment is not a new concept, but it works flawlessly, as does the profile changer, and the laser tracking perfectly transmits my movements into actions on the screen.
Weaknesses:
I am still trying to figure out what location for the adjustable side buttons is the best, a 'good' problem. I had to adjust to the use of a hard mouse mat; being a laser mouse that surface is far superior when it comes to tracking its movements.
Summary:
With a mouse that performs so admirably, with perfect ergonomics and a decent price tag, it's easily the best mouse Razer has unleashed since the original Boomslang. At this point, anyone not absolutely needing the wireless function of the Mamba would only be wasting their money, this mouse equals its performance and even exceeds it in customization. An essential mouse that has everything a gamer needs.

Rick has no idea.

Strengths:
Where to begin, this mouse is essentially everything I could have asked for. In terms of hardware, the mouse sensor is identical to that of a Razer Mamba, while costing half as much. It has the same number of buttons, with the advantage of being adjustable on the side, to accommodate a fingertip or palm grip. It feels fantastic to hold as well. Some of my friends have Mamba's, and I have one issue with their comfort, and that is that there is no real place to comfortably rest a pinky finger.
Weaknesses:
(Continued from strengths) The Imperator, however, feels natural in your hand, and you know that ergonomics were a huge part of the making of this mouse. The drivers and the ridiculous amount of profile customization and macros are amazing too. Also, after installing all firmware updates (Not 1.04, since 1.13 is currently out) the mouse runs completely well on my x64 OS. Rick may have gotten a faulty mouse, but this one met all of my expectations.
Summary:
In terms of weaknesses, it's not wireless, but that isn't a big deal. It has a nice braided cable anyways. I see the Imperator as a wired version of a Mamba, with a more traditional and IMO comfortable shape. All I can say is that I can't imagine how they could really improve this mouse when taking into account all factors, including hardware, comfort and value. Another great product from Razer!

This mouse is junk.

None.
Weaknesses:
The mouse itself.
Summary:
Where to begin. This mouse continuously freezes on x64 os's. The lag is awful. The price is horrendous for what you are getting. I would not recommend buying this.

Truly Outstanding

Strengths:
This mouse is absolutely outstanding! Unfortunately I have room to list only my favorite features:
- Surface texture is exceptional. The main surface has a silky luxurious feel, and the sides are polished smooth.
- Extremely comfortable for all grip types (palm, claw, and fingertip). I use a fingertip grip, and so far it's great.
- DPI switch is conveniently located below mouse wheel.
- Highly customizable via onboard profiles
- Replacable Teflon feet.
Weaknesses:
I have very few complaints. Most of these are subjective, and due to personal taste.
- Right-handed Grip only
- 5600 DPI is probably too sensitive for most people. My upper limit is 4000 DPI, which I use for FPS only.
- Price is a little steep, especially if you don't need 5600 DPI.

The one thing I would change:
- The thumb buttons are *still* oriented side-by-side. I don't know why mouse designers are still doing this. Stacked would feel more natural.
Summary:
I could write volumes about how exceptional this mouse is. Razer has truly outdone themselves. Not only is this my 3rd (and favorite) Razer mouse, but it's the best mouse I've owned. PERIOD. From experience, the rubberized finish starts to flake off after about year. As long as the finish holds out, I do not plan to upgrade again.

I recommend pairing this with a good mousepad. I use the medium sized Razer Goliathus, and love how it glides!
