Asus BC-08B1ST vs. LiteOn iHos104-08

- Runs fairly quiet unless the disk media is unbalanced, which generates a hum. Will look at dampening the mounting.

- I bought this one to replace my Asus BC-08B1S because it would not play the Extended Collector's Edition of Avatar. I ruled out the software PowerDVD 9, WinDVD 10, Total Media Theatre 3 (all work for Avatar). I also ruled out Firmware upgrades since Asus never bothered to upgrade the firmware from its initial 1.0 release in April of 2009. Asus customer service was no help. Ignored my last plea to upgrade the firmware.
Great drive, no complaints!

- Picked this product up earlier and installed it. No hassle trying to find drivers or firmware. Just plug n go. Comes with Cyberlink PowerDVD 8, although I already had a higher version installed. No problems at all.
For the price it's hard to beat as a reader.
