Excellent ventilation but thin metal

4/5

Ruslan from Edmonton, AB writes:
Strengths:
- Looks better than most standard cases
- Up to five 120mm fans can create good airflow for most demanding applications.
- Black paint inside and outside.
- Four 5.25 drive bays with mesh front panels and foam backing
- Up to five 3.5 drive bays with optional active cooling (120 mm fan)
- Quick-mount drive locks
- Hi-Fi or AC97 front audio and 2 USB ports
Weaknesses:
- The case is made of thin sheet metal and doesn't feel sturdy. However, most of the edges are rolled and it would be hard to cut yourself.
- Thin sheet metal seem to resonate noise generated by drives and fans. And, the myriad of the ventilation holes do not deaden the sounds either. I cannot rate it as a quiet case.
- Only three quick-mount locks come with the case
- Paint durability questionable - already have a small scratch on the back
- Break-out extension slot covers
Summary:
I was surprised how light the case was when I picked it up. Thin sheet metal design confirmed my assumption after I opened the box.
I had no problems installing drives, MB, and other components. Make sure to remove small power supply bracket that holds it before installing a P/S.
The case looks nice. My biggest concerns are the noise, the rigidity and the dust that is not going to be trapped by the mesh of the fan grills on top. I may have to cover them with some kind of dust filters.
