Freezer 7 rev 2

- Strengths:
- Low profile - fits in older mid-ATX cases
Decent cooling capabilites
Quiet with good fan control
No problem installing it beside low-profile RAM in Slot A1 on my ASUS M5A88-V. Taller RAM might be tight.
Never get the BSOD as Brian from Winnipeg writes, and my RAM fits fine.
- Weaknesses:
- Harder than average to install - special clips must be screwed in to the mounting plate
Pre-applied paste stuck to the packaging and I had to repair it- would rather get a tube of paste and apply it myself
Less cooling than larger units, but what do you expect for a small cooler?
- Summary:
- I have a Phenom II 965 BE which ran at 62 deg Celsius with the stock cooler, which also was very loud because the fan was over 3000rpm! The Freezer 7 fit my older, mid-ATX case, and now my temps are at least 10deg cooler. Very happy with the performance and would recommend this unit as a good aftermarket solution for those who can't fit the larger heatsinks into their case.
Installation was a little annoying with the small screws and pre-applied paste, but not impossible.
AMD users avoid this cooler

- Strengths:
- None
- Weaknesses:
- Huge heat sink and if you are gonna use 4 sticks of Ram on Asus M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 forget it you can not get the stick installed closest to the CPU. Fan spins way to slow at idle and after a few minutes you will get BSOD
- Summary:
- Will never buy again...Had to use the stock AMD cooler
Excellent bang-for-the-buck

- Strengths:
- Quiet
Good Airflow
Easy to install
- Weaknesses:
- Fan feels a little cheap.
- Summary:
- For $30, this is a must-buy. After installation (which took about 5 minutes, including removal of old stock fan), my temperatures dropped a good 15-20*C at both idle and load.
Also, the fact that the compound is pre-applied is great! I would 100% recommend this to anyone in need of a quick, easy way to drop CPU temperatures.
Great cooler but too wide

- Strengths:
- Price, got this on sale for 21$
Cooling performance, when playing games the stock cooler would kick in to high gear and whine. (AMD Phenom II 965 quad core)
Now it stays quiet and i can hear what going on in the game again.
- Weaknesses:
- Size, at least on my motherboard anyway. Like a previous reviewer I have the same motherboard and the memory slots are too close to the CPU. The fan shroud pushes against the memory in the closest slot. Doesn't seem to interfere with performance yet, but I am keeping an eye on it.
- Summary:
- Great cooler for the price, thought it was too small as it doesn't cover the entire CPU but that does not seem to be an issue as long as you mount it right in the middle, (where the heat comes from) :)
Great buy for 20$

- Strengths:
- - Much better cooling over stock-AMD-Cooler
- Price
- Weaknesses:
- - Looks cheaply built ( hey! 20$ price )
- CPU Fan-Monitor doesn't work properly
- Weirdly large size
- Summary:
- Bought this for 20$ on sale. My stock cooler for 955BE gave me 71 C on stock settings even when Idle. This thing reduced the temp by about 40 C . Now I'm getting 31-32 C on idle. This is a HUGE difference for only 20$ price.
Installation was a bliss since the thermal paste comes pre-applied , so that saves another 10$ . Hope they could do something about the fan issues. but not a bad buy at all.
Good for the price.

- Strengths:
- Great price
Effective cooling
Supports majority of Intel and AMD sockets from the past 6-7 years.
Pre applied MX-2 is a nice bonus.
- Weaknesses:
- Fells kinda cheap,
Installation can be a tiny bit annoying.
- Summary:
- Pretty decent cooling for the price, i5 750 at 3.2GHz, Speedstep disabled, 19x multi got around 75C with stock fan running SuperPi, 4 torture tests, with this guy I get around 65-69. In real world test my temps are quite a bit lower idle and on load so you really cant complain for the 30 bucks.
A bit too wide

- Strengths:
- - Decent price
- It's cool
- easy install
- not too loud
- Weaknesses:
- It's too big (what's what she said)
- Summary:
- About 3 cm too wide. It protrudes into the ram slots with the fan is clipped back on.
I installed this on the Gigabyte GA-890GPA-UD3H motherboard in an Antec Sonata III case. I had to move my 4gb of Ram to the other 2 slots. So It would be impossible to fit 8gb of ram should I do so in the future.
OK

- Strengths:
- It's fine for the price, it has worked well for about 5 months and hopefully up to it's 6 year warranty.
- Weaknesses:
- It's a value cooler, don't expect record breaking performance. Weak mounting for both AMD and Intel, the first version was far better for AMD with clips. Poor instructions.
- Summary:
- People complain their fan is dead. More likely your PWM has got the fan starting off so low the fan won't even run. On an old S939 board without PWM the fan runs full speed, quiet, and spins up fine. If your fan is broken assuming you didn't destroy it attempting to manhandle install it try to tinker around with the PWM. For AMD install I recommend laying on it's side and screwing both lugs into place loosely, place on your cpu and tighten into place.
bad luck

- Strengths:
- Quiet
Easy install (AM2)
Effective Cooling
Applied thermal grease
- Weaknesses:
- Heat sink smaller than processor
- Summary:
- Awesome cooler (especially for the price). It runs very quiet and very cool. The install was a snap (five minutes with AM2) and the removal of the motherboard was not needed. I was surprised that the actual part of the cooler that sits on the CPU was quite abit smaller than my Athlon 630, but it doesn't seem to matter. Highly recommended!
