Dissapointed

Strengths:
Gigabit Ethernet Switch. 5GHz 802.11n worked well Easy to setup
Weaknesses:
2.4GHz is terrible. I could get it to work at about 3', then after about 5' (open room) I loose connectivity completely. Tried with 4 devices all same results. Replacing an existing 2.4GHz AP which was working fine in the same location. This is the worst 2.4GHz experience possible.
Summary:
I wish I didn't need 2.4GHz at all but I do (3Gs iPhone.) So for that its bad Not sure why others were talking about it being difficult or taking a long time to setup. It's basically the same as every other WAP ever made and it's identical to every other D-Link product. It doesn't get simpler: 1.) Access the web-interface with default IP/Password 2.) Set your frequency, SSID, Encryption and click Save 3.) Connect your client. Takes a whopping 30 seconds to setup so I don't get the struggle??

Very bad AP

Strengths:
Easy to use and pretty straight forward.
Weaknesses:
Not really dual band. Works in one bad that is set. Connection drops on heavier traffic and the AP doesn't recover - needs to be power-cycled. I tested 4 of these units and the all behave the same.
Summary:
Good for beginners, probably a bit of gaming consoles, but it will not be ok for a corporate environment. The connection is dropped with even one PC associated to it. If you want a serious AP, be ready to spend 300+ and actually save money. I owned the DAP-1522 and went to DAP-2553. The only difference between these 2 is that the connection is dropped rarely on DAP-2553 and the AP recovers. I will be trying the DAP-2590. I've been through this more than 2 years. Not impressed.

Great Bridge

Strengths:
Works great as a bridge. Had it set up with the Dir-655 in about 5 minutes thanks to push button set up.
Weaknesses:
Supplied ethernet cable is retardedly short. Standard with most D-link products though. Only a minor issue.
Summary:
Using this is an expensive "wireless n card" for my PS3. Improved connection on PS3 significantly.
My PS3 was in a terrible spot to receive wireless, with a long ethernet cable and an extension cord was able to position bridge in a much better spot to receive signal. No more lagging online.

It works, if you can set it up properly.

Strengths:
-Works once you get past the setup
*although do expect several hours of frustrating setup
-Looks nice, matches other D-link Extreme N products
-One of the few options available for a wireless bridge with a gigabit switch
-Extends your wireless if you have no other way to do so
-Better than G (but not by much)
Weaknesses:
-Setup is mystifying, obviously not meant for new-ish users
-Likes to freeze or randomly flood network with packets after saving options, among other fun quirks making setup terribly frustrating
-D-link's web interface - as bad as usual (maybe worse?)
-No external antennas impact range - form over function I guess
-Disappointing speeds which can vary greatly just by moving your devices slightly
Summary:
All 12 of these in stock were open box returns. Setup manual is terrible, but that's what the internet is for.. Unfortunately there are not many choices for inexpensive bridges out there. I got it to work, some may not. After all, it is wireless, don't expect too much from it like some of the previous reviewers may have. Wireless completely depends on many environmental factors and is by nature fairly unreliable and slow. Like the guys at Mem Ex said, use *only* if you have no wired options.

Good N access point

Strengths:
Dual band
non intrusive design
easy to mount
easy to setup
Weaknesses:
no wds
no external antennas
Summary:
I like this AP and it pairs up nicely with dlinks other N-products. Been using it as an extra AP to extend range and as bridge, only thing I miss is the external antennas for wider range. A WDS mode would have been really nice and I would pay extra for it..
Otherwise very nice ap/bridge with decent range.

Excellent bridge for WDTV Live

Strengths:
Perfect match for my Western Digital TV LIve. Great speed if you have good router.
Weaknesses:
Takes longer to set it up than your usual network device. Annoying lights if you want to use it with your home theater. Does not work if MW oven is working, which has really nothing to do with the device itself but with the wifi technology I think.
Summary:
Bought this device to pair it with WDTV Live, which is located about on the second floor while my NAS and router is on the main floor and running the cables was not really a possibility. After longer than usual set-up (for a network device) it worked perfect with my WDTV. Tested it with 720 P video, youtube, photos, everything worked perfect, without long hesitation. Video plays smooth without problems.

Strengths:
I've been using the DAP-1522 to stream media to my TV via a Xbox, using a DIR-825. So far, it's rock solid, using either 2.4 or 5Gz. Not sure what the issues are with the other reviewers. I've had the DAP-1522 for over a year and it's worked great. It's very, very rare there are any connection problems and it's even in my basement.
Weaknesses:
I found setup was a bit harder than usual but got it work soon enough.
Summary:
Upgrade to latest firmware and it should work fine as a bridge.

Poor distance, poor support

Strengths:
Easy to setup, although not the same class of software options as found in the DWL series. IE DWL 1000, DWL 2100 etc
Weaknesses:
Dlink told us 2 cement walls at 100ft were no problem, They were !
Could get connection, but no trhroughput at all unless one unit placed in doorway or outside. Not that impressed with speed at close range either when working. Dlink ended of saying they do not support file sharing via these devices? (They support video streaming ironically!)
Summary:
Good short range AP for "N" class home users , needs external antenna option for better range etc. I think i probably returned Jims 2 units judging by time frame and fact my 2 units where returns and are now returned again.

Not terribly impressed

Strengths:
Easy to set up and use.
Weaknesses:
Poor throughput. Tested thoroughly using iperf and couldn't exceed 18Mbps, even when only 1 meter from router. Using my DWA-652 card, I can consistently get approx 78Mbps.
Summary:
Do not recommend. I tried it on all 3 firmware revisions available, and the throughput simply is not there. I'm returning it today.
