- Strengths:
- Quiet, Quality
- Weaknesses:
- Split Rail - You have to be careful how you load the 12V rails.
- Summary:
- Bought this last year and it works great. Been running with GTX 470 and a i7-930 50% overclocked for a year with no problems.
At the current sale/price point this is literally a steal. I would buy again if I had another PC.
No rebate issues.
Ok, but...

- Strengths:
- Relatively quiet for the power
- Weaknesses:
- Split +12V bus/supply. One has to be careful how you plug in your devices to manage proper loading of each 500W supply
- Summary:
- Mine died after about 1.5 years. Seems the shop that put my system together (I won't mention names MemEx ok?) with the 4870x2 video, put all the video, Velociraptor disks and such on +12V1, never using +12V2. Of course, that gave a large load on the one side 500W supply (including i7 CPU load). By the way, the 4870x2 died about 1 month before the PSU, and I suspect this was all relate
I replaced with an AX850, no problems.
Warranty service was ok, sent unit back, got replacement within a month.
Comprable

- Rebate is a waste of time, and took 4 months, with tonnes of paperwork, serialnumbers and corsair login. Dont get sucked into Corsairs rebate scam.
They use your money for months and hope its to much trouble for you (which it is), cha ching....
- Summary:
- fair product, obscured pricepoint based on inconvenient and troublesome "rebate".
Bad First Impression - Wont deal with Corsair again.

- Five minutes after powering on for the first time with minimal hardware - it smoked, shot sparks and caught fire. I realize its just a defective unit, but thats a bad first impression from Corsair for this guy.
I have had the same thing happen with one other identical model while doing a review (I work for Tomshardware, you can read about it there).
Absolute garbage. Wont be using Corsair again.
- Summary:
- Bad first impression - enough to not ever buy Corsair again.
Lots of power

- Strengths:
- Plenty of power, modular cables reach everything in my large case, makes for cleaner cable routing
- Weaknesses:
- Very large, Like moving a grand piano into the upstairs spare bedroom, thankfully my Thermaltake Armor case can be opened right up from the front, then it was hook up the crane and carefully hoist it into its place in the rear of the case
- Summary:
- If your going to be upgrading to this power supply make sure you have a case big enough to take it , I have the thermaltake armor and it was fun to install

- Strengths:
- Modular, a good selection of modular cords are supplied, the cords are long enough to reach all components even if routed out of sight.
- Weaknesses:
- The Corsair 1000 w power supply is big, it will not be usable in all cases, as it can interfear with the cable routing from the bays directly in front of it. Ensure you know the depth of your case. I am using an Antec 1200 case and it was a snug fit.
