Strengths:: There is no free lunch, so the speed of the CF you marry with this adapter effects the speed. Real geeks will use a super tiny OS and get away with a small CF card. XP needs 4 to 8 gigs to be useful. A 45MB/s CF card will feel like a normal drive. Faster for booting, slower for installing. The adapter worked perfectly as advertised and can be connected directly onto the mobo
Weaknesses:: Big Fast CF cards are not cheap, so either you have cash to burn, or brains to get on a small card. This is a female IDE connector so it cut you off of using other devices on the IDE buss. this is a single CF card adapter so you have to get it done with one card
