Strengths:
1. Non-contact position sensing for most used axes. Should be durable. Let's hope.
2. Amazing number and variety of controls with good placement and complete programming flexibility.
3. Easy to use in a darkened room because of hi-tech lighting. It looks fantastic.
4. Full support for both 32 bit and 64 bit systems although you must download 64 bit
components from Saitek site. Takes a few seconds and you then have the latest. Excellent utility and profiler.
5. Works perfectly on Windows 7 - 64 bit. No glitches whatsoever.
6. The big, separate throttle handle makes a perfect "collective" control for helicopters like "Black Shark".
You feel like you are in the cockpit of the real thing.
Weaknesses:
Nothing really worth mentioning but if you want to nit-pick:

1. The twist control for rudder seems a trifle stiff. Until you get used to it, may slip if palms get sweaty.
2. If you put weight on the stick, it tends to stick just a bit. Keep the downward pressure off and it is fine.
3. Takes up a lot of space but so what.
Summary:
First-rate product, including the software support. Extremely well thought-out and implemented. For the hard-core enthusiast who desires full control of gaming/simulation environment. Very easy to set up with "Black Shark" built-in profiler. Transforms the helo simulation into a truly immersive experience. Yes, it is expensive, but once you start using it you will quickly forget what it cost you. Besides, "there ain't no pockets in the shroud".

To soon to comment on durability, unfortunately.

Has great potential.

Strengths:
Lots of buttons with three modes, slider, rotary dials...
Clutch button allows quick profile changes, recalls button names from a profile so you do not have to try and remember what the key does, both show up on the display.
Excellent program.
Metal wedge and socket with dual spring.
Weaknesses:
Bushing wore out on mine in six months. Since that happened the metal wedge scrapped the shaft.
Upon contacting Saitek about the problem, I was asked where I lived. Replied Canada and was told this was not possible. No more replies received after numerous attempts.
Disassembled it and took pictures. Sent them and was replied with "since you took it apart we cannot warranty it".
Sloppy twist in stick and plug to stick.
Summary:
After disassembling it I found the outside spring is offset and the wedge is offset. When the two are not lined up right it cause the bushing to wear, trying to compensate for the offsets.
Made a bushing and polished the shaft back up, and all is well.
Modified the sticks magnets to mount to the swivel to remove all stick slop in gear mesh and add more accurate roll from one x to y axis.
Other mods have made this HOTAS amazing.
Purchased 3yrs ago for 290$ and no extended M.Ewarranty available
